بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا
Dua when entering the home
In the name of Allah we entered, in the name of Allah we left, and upon Allah, our Lord, we placed our trust.
Sunan Abi Dawud, 5096اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
Dua when leaving the mosque
O Allah! I ask You for Your bounty.
Sahih Muslim, 713فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي
Dua of Prophet Yusuf
O Originator of the heavens and the earth! You are my protector in this world and the Hereafter. Take my soul as a Muslim and join me with the righteous.
Surah Yusuf, 101رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا
Dua for acceptance
Our Lord! Accept this (deed) from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Surah Al-Baqarah, 127الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
Dua when sneezing
The one who sneezes says “Alhamdulillah”; the one who hears it says “Yarhamukallah (may Allah have mercy on you)”; the sneezer then replies “Yahdikumullahu wa yuslihu balakum (may Allah guide you and set your condition right).”
Sahih al-Bukhari, 6224اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا
Dua during a windstorm
O Allah, I ask You for the good of this wind, the good within it and the good it was sent with; and I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil within it and the evil it was sent with.
Sahih Muslim, 899أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
Dua when feeling anger
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 3282اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا
Dua while it is raining
O Allah, make this a beneficial, blessed rain.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 1032مُطِرْنَا بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَرَحْمَتِهِ
Dua after rainfall
We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 846اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَىٰ ذِكْرِكَ
Dua after the prayer
O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You well.
Sunan Abi Dawud, 1522اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ
Dua after the tashahhud
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the Masih ad-Dajjal.
Sahih Muslim, 588لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ
Morning and evening tahlil dhikr
There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion, His is the praise, and He is capable of all things.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 6403رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا
Raditu dua
I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as my prophet.
Sunan Abi Dawud, 5072سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ
Kaffaratul-majlis dua
Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except You. I ask Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.
Jami at-Tirmidhi, 3433لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ
Dua when entering the marketplace
There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise. He gives life and causes death, while He Himself is Living and does not die. All good is in His hand, and He is capable of all things.
Jami at-Tirmidhi, 3428اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي فِيمَنْ هَدَيْتَ
Qunut dua
O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, take me under Your care among those You have taken under Your care, bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. Indeed, You decree and none decrees over You. Whoever You take under Your care is not humiliated. Blessed and Exalted are You, our Lord.
Jami at-Tirmidhi, 464سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
Tasbih after the prayer
Subhanallah (33 times), Alhamdulillah (33 times), Allahu akbar (33 times); completing the hundred with: “There is no deity except Allah, alone, without partner; His is the dominion, His is the praise, and He is capable of all things.”
Sahih Muslim, 597إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ الدِّيَكَةِ فَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
Dua on hearing a rooster crow
When you hear a rooster crow, ask Allah for His grace, for it has seen an angel. When you hear a donkey bray, seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan, for it has seen a shaytan.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 3303اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَٰذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ
Dua after the adhan
O Lord of this perfect call and of the prayer about to be established! Grant Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) the wasilah and the excellence, and raise him to the praised station (Maqam Mahmud) that You have promised him.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 614اللَّهُمَّ أَغِثْنَا
Dua for rain
O Allah, send us rain! O Allah, send us rain! O Allah, send us rain!
Sahih al-Bukhari, 1014اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ
Dua on seeing the new moon
O Allah, cause this moon to rise over us with security, faith, safety, and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah.
Jami at-Tirmidhi, 3451بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ
Dua when leaving the home
In the name of Allah. I have placed my trust in Allah. Power and strength come only from Allah.
Jami at-Tirmidhi, 3426; Sunan Abi Dawud, 5095اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
Dua for entering the toilet
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from male and female devils (from every kind of filth).
Sahih al-Bukhari, 142; Sahih Muslim, 375اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ
Istikharah dua
O Allah! I ask You for what is good through Your knowledge, and I ask for ability through Your power, and I ask of Your great bounty. Indeed, You are able and I am not able, You know and I do not know, and You know the unseen best.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 1166الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Surah Al-Fatihah
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path: the path of those You have blessed, not of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who have gone astray.
Surah Al-Fatihah, 1-7اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
Sayyidul-Istighfar
O Allah! You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I am upon Your covenant and promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin; so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 6306اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Dua of salawat upon the Prophet
O Allah! Just as You sent salawat (mercy) upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, send salawat upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as well. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah! Just as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as well. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.
Sahih al-Bukhari, 3370أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ
Dua after wudu
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. O Allah, make me among those who repent and among those who purify themselves.
Sahih Muslim, 234اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Dua when entering the mosque
O Allah! Open the gates of Your mercy for me.
Sahih Muslim, 713الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَٰذَا الثَّوْبَ
Dua when putting on clothes
Praise be to Allah who clothed me with this garment and provided it for me (without any power or strength on my part).
Sunan Abi Dawud, 4023رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً
Rabbana atina dua
O our Lord! Grant us good in this world, and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Surah Al-Baqarah, 201سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ
The dhikr Subhanallah
Allah is pure and free of all imperfection, praise be to Him. The Most Great Allah is pure and free of all imperfection.
