Arabic

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَلَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Transliteration
La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir, alhamdu lillahi wa subhanallahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.
Meaning
There is no god but Allah; He is One, with no partner. Sovereignty is His and praise is His, and He has power over all things. Praise is for Allah, glory is for Allah; there is no god but Allah, Allah is the greatest; there is no power and no strength except through Allah.

When it is recited

Said upon waking from sleep at night; it is recommended to follow it by saying “O Allah, forgive me” and making dua, then performing wudu and praying.

Virtue

According to the hadith, whoever wakes at night, says this remembrance and then makes dua, his dua will be answered; and if he performs wudu and prays, his prayer will be accepted.
