اللَّهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ، وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ، وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ، وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ، رَغْبَةً وَرَهْبَةً إِلَيْكَ، لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ، آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ، وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ
- Transliteration
- Allahumma aslamtu nafsi ilayka, wa fawwadtu amri ilayka, wa wajjahtu wajhi ilayka, wa alja'tu zahri ilayka, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayka, la malja'a wa la manja minka illa ilayka, amantu bikitabikalladhi anzalta, wa binabiyyikalladhi arsalta.
- Meaning
- O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, entrusted my affair to You, turned my face to You, and rested my back on You, hoping for Your reward and fearing Your punishment. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in the Book You sent down and the Prophet You sent.
When it is recited
Recited at night when lying down to sleep, as the last words after performing wudu and lying on the right side.
Virtue
According to the hadith, whoever makes this dua his last words and passes away that night dies upon the fitrah (natural faith).

It is reported from al-Bara ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised whoever wants to go to bed to perform wudu, lie on the right side, and say this dua as his last words.

The same dua of submission is also reported from al-Bara ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) in Sahih Muslim.

Allah: there is no god but Him, the Ever Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on the earth. Who can intercede with Him without His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them. They cannot encompass anything of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them is not a burden to Him. He is the Most High, the Most Great.
