الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلَاكَ بِهِ وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلًا
- Transliteration
- Alhamdu lillahilladhi afani mimma-btalaka bihi wa faddalani ala kathirin mimman khalaqa tafdila.
- Meaning
- Praise be to Allah who has kept me safe from what He afflicted you with, and who has favoured me above many of those He created.
When it is recited
It is recited, often silently, upon seeing someone who is sick, afflicted by hardship, or going through difficulty.
Virtue
According to the hadith, whoever recites this dua will be protected from that affliction for as long as they live; it is a reminder that good health is a great blessing.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever sees someone afflicted by hardship and recites this dua will be protected from that affliction for as long as they live.” The narration is hasan.
