اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
- Transliteration
- Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman kathiran, wa la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa anta, faghfir li maghfiratan min indika warhamni innaka antal-Ghafurur-Rahim.
- Meaning
- O Allah, I have greatly wronged myself, and none forgives sins except You. So grant me forgiveness from Yourself and have mercy on me. Indeed, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
When it is recited
Recited in prayer, before the closing salam, as well as at times of istighfar and repentance from sin.
Virtue
It teaches a person to acknowledge his own shortcomings and to ask for forgiveness from Allah alone.
