الْوَكِيل
- Transliteration
- al-Wakīl
- Meaning
- "Al-Wakil" means the One who takes on, in the best possible way, all the affairs of His servants who entrust their affairs to Him and rely on Him, and who is sufficient for them. When a person does everything within his power and leaves the rest to Allah, he has placed his trust (tawakkul) in Him; and Allah, who is Al-Wakil, never abandons whoever relies on Him.
In the Quran
«..."Allah is sufficient for us; He is the best Guardian (Wakil)!"»
Surah Ali 'Imran, 173Explanation
The source of reliance
The Quran states: "Whoever relies upon Allah, He is sufficient for him" (At-Talaq, 3). Holding on to the means while entrusting the outcome to Allah: this is true reliance (tawakkul).
Striving and entrusting
Reliance is not laziness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught tying the camel first and then relying on Allah (Jami at-Tirmidhi, 2517). A servant does everything within his power, then entrusts the outcome to Allah, who is Al-Wakil.
