In the Quran

«Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle (Latif), the Acquainted (Khabir)?»

Surah Al-Mulk, 14

Explanation

  1. The one who knows what is hidden

Khabir denotes deep, inward knowledge. Allah knows not only what we do but why we do it: our intention as well. The Quran states: "He is the Knower of what is in the breasts" (Al-Mulk, 13) and is aware of everything.

  2. Together with Al-Latif

In the Quran this name often appears alongside Latif: "al-Latifu-l-Khabir." This shows that Allah both knows the subtlest details and treats that knowledge with grace (Al-An'am, 103; Al-Mulk, 14).
