Zargul

Zargul comes from the combination of the Persian-origin words zər (gold, golden shine) and gül (flower) and literally means a golden-colored rose, or a flower that shimmers like gold. This structure belongs to the widely used zər- prefix series in Azerbaijani names; names like Zernigar, Zarina, and Zarnishan also arose from the same root, aiming to transfer gold's radiance to a person.

Although the name is rarely used independently today, it is one of the forms found in classical aşıq poetry and folk-tale language alongside rose-compound names (Gulnar, Gulchichek). Since it has no religious content, there is no obstacle to using it; it is simply an old name with an artistic flavor.
