Ubada

Ubada is an intensified form derived from the Arabic root abd (servitude, worship) and means A person deeply devoted to Allah, dedicated to worship. The root is also the source of the words abid and ibadət, which is why the name is among those with clear religious content, carrying the sense of prayer and obedience.

The name's well-known bearer is Ubada ibn Samit, an Ansari from Medina; he was one of the twelve who first pledged allegiance to our Prophet (peace be upon him), took part in the Battle of Badr, and was among the Companions who took part in the writing down of the Quran. Later serving as a judge in Syria and Palestine, Ubada is among the boy names respected among religious families in Azerbaijan, though not widely widespread.
