Name meaning and origin
Talha comes from the Arabic word talh and means a tree bearing fruit in clusters, a branch of fruit. The same word appears in verse 29 of Surah al-Waqi'ah as one of the fruits of paradise, which adds a pleasant spiritual nuance to the root of the name.
Talha ibn Übeydullah was among the first to embrace Islam, and at the Battle of Uhud he protected the Prophet (PBUH) with his own body, leaving his hand crippled; for this self-sacrifice he is counted among the ten Companions promised Paradise. Although not yet widespread in Azerbaijan, it is recognized among religious families as a choice that points to Islamic history.
