Nilsu

Nilsu is a modern Turkic name formed from the combination of nil (a deep blue-green color, alluding to the Nile river) and the word su (water); read together, it calls to mind an image as deep and fresh as the water of the Nile. The name's structure follows the same logic as Nilay (nil+ay); only, as the second component, su (water) was chosen instead of ay (moon).

Nilsu first arose in Turkey as part of the fashion for nature-themed compound women's names, then became one of the modern choices also found in Azerbaijan alongside similar names such as Nilay and Aysu. It has no religious content and is chosen purely for its poetic sound and nature associations.
