Name meaning and origin

Hasib is derived from the Arabic root h-s-b (to count, to reckon); this root conveys the meaning of a person who keeps an exact account and one of worthy origin and noble descent. The best-known trace of the root appears in the form Al-Hasib as one of the names of God: in verse 6 of Surah An-Nisa, the word hasiban is used with the meaning 'Allah is sufficient as one who takes account.'

For this reason Hasib was chosen in the classical period as a masculine name carrying value and prestige in both religious and secular senses; it is still encountered in the Arabic-Muslim world today. Though not widespread in Azerbaijan, the depth of its meaning and its religious roots give it the status of a respected choice.
