Elanur

Elanur is formed from the combination of the Turkic-origin word Ela (from the Old Turkic ala, meaning multicolored, speckled, and denoting a hazel-brown eye color) and the Arabic-origin word Nur (light, radiance). It is sometimes claimed that the name Ela is linked to a Persian word meaning exalted, but this is a widespread mistaken explanation; the word is actually of Turkic origin. The combination points both to a beautiful eye color and to a bright, radiant face, and it is a later-formed independent form distinct from the name Elnur, well known in Azerbaijan.

The name Ela is already recognized in Azerbaijan as an independent girl name, while Elanur is its modern version expanded with Nur, popularized by the wave of -nur suffixed names coming from Turkey. Since its meaning is positive and clear, there is no religious obstacle to choosing the name.
