Asya

Asya is the name of the world's largest continent; according to most sources its root is connected to the word Asia in Greek, and the word reached Azerbaijani through Turkic. The name is one of the most chosen girl names in Turkey in recent years and entered the country's top ten in popularity in 2024.

Asya is often confused with Asiya, the faithful wife of Pharaoh, although the two names differ in both origin and meaning: Asiya is of Arab origin and refers to the historical figure described in the Quran, whereas Asya is an independent name derived from the name of a continent.
