Abdulvahid

Abdulvahid comes from the combination of the Arabic word əbd (servant) with Al-Wahid, a name of God. Wahid denotes the one God who has no partner in His essence, attributes, or deeds; in this sense Abdulvahid is chosen as a name that reminds a child of devotion to tawhid, the oneness of God, and it shares the same structure as other names of the əbd- series, such as Əbdülkərim and Abdulaziz.

Although the name is not widely used independently in Azerbaijan, its root is ancient and well known: in the documents of some people born in the middle of the last century, the entry Abdulvahid appears as a patronymic. Since its religious content is clear, there is no obstacle to using it from an Islamic standpoint.
