- Meaning
- Al-Warith means the one who remains after all creation has ceased to exist, the true and eternal owner of everything. Whatever a person possesses passes out of his hands at death and returns to its true owner, Allah. Dominion was His at the beginning and remains His at the end; He is the sole eternal Inheritor of existence.
In the Quran
«"Indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor (the ones who remain after all else)."»
Surah Al-Hijr, 23Explanation
The return of everything
A person leaves this world empty-handed; everything he has gathered is left without an owner and returns to its true owner. The Quran states: "And to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth" (Ali 'Imran, 180). In the end, only He remains.
Not being deceived by this world
A person who grasps this name does not become greedy for worldly possessions, because he knows that everything will return to Allah in the end. True gain is His pleasure and the good sent ahead for the hereafter.
