- Meaning
- Al-Qadir means the One who has power over all things, able to do whatever He wills however He wills. Nothing is difficult or impossible before His might. If He wills, He creates; if He wills, He changes; nothing can render Him powerless.
In the Quran
«Say: "He has power to send punishment upon you from above you or from beneath your feet (Qadir)."»
Surah Al-Anam, 65Explanation
Powerful over all things
The Quran repeatedly emphasizes: "Allah has power over all things" (Al-Baqarah, 20). The first creation, the resurrection of the dead, the governance of the universe: all of these rest on His power; none of them is difficult for Him.
Hope and submission
A person who knows that Allah has power over all things does not lose hope: He alone is able to ease even the hardest situation. At the same time, this awareness makes a person humble before His might.
